XHTML live Chat is more a proof of concept rather than a tested real world solution as said alexander kohlhofer, the author of this AJAX
Chat. The only thing that I didn`t like are the presentation which
looks more like a forum, user can chat his nickname anytime, there is
no list of current users ... XHTML live chat is written in PHP and is available for download under a Creative Commons License.
